![]() Now head back left and hit a gremlin with magic to make it drop the chest. You can reach it by heading along the gears at the bottom side of the room, then letting the one on the far right side carry you up along its cogs to the second tier. On the overhead ledge, you can use Lumos magic to remove some vines that block access to the second chest (you'll have to assemble a gear to reach the upper ledge). There's one on the ledge just to the right from where you start. Here, you need to break open five treasure chests and kill the enemies within. Now step through it to arrive in a secret room. With those resulting blocks, build a doorway. Blast it open with Reducto magic, then use Wingardium Leviosa to lift it into the air and dump out its contents. Head to the back side and there's a treasure chest with a lock. Info: Travel to the classroom where you learn about Defense Against the Dark Arts. Now carry that left to find an owl to which it can be delivered. There's a pick nearby, so lift it with magic and break apart the ice to reveal a Red Brick. To the right side of the tent, you'll find a block of ice. Now head toward the right, past Dementor enemies. Now Hermione should use the Time-Turner ability to activate the clock and head back in time. Have one of your characters use Wingardium Leviosa magic to assemble those pieces and you'll form a clock. ![]() It's just to the left of the actual tent. Info: Outside the tent where the Quidditch tournament takes place, in the area beyond Hagrid's hut along the trail leading through the house pennants, look for a patch of soil that Hermione's cat can dig. Drop down with it and carry it left to the owl to manage a delivery. You can use them to climb up to the ledge above, where you can then grab the Red Brick. With all three keys collected, you can open the gate along the room's right side. Then switch to the Griphook character to open that box. Use that to assemble a lever in the opening to the right, along the base of the structure. The one on the left should leave behind some debris that falls to the water and floats in it. You can use Wingardium Leviosa magic to slowly tear them away from the wall. Against the back wall, you'll see two gargoyle statues. There's a tall structure there that looks like a giant snake. To find it, look toward the center of the room. You'll need only one more key for the gate, then. Then, as Hermione, step up to the nearby light puzzle cabinet and solve that puzzle for another key. Take that key to the gate along the right side of the area and fit it in the lock. Change to the Hufflepuff Boy, or to a similar character from that house, then walk up to the nearby painting and wave at it for a green key. Near the entrance, you'll find a large crate with a chain over it that you can blast apart with Reducto magic to reveal a cauldron so that it's easy to change characters. I love the look of the brick-built pieces, but the board is so uninspiring.Info: Enter the room accessible by passing through the door on the right side of Potions class. So I was disappointed when LEGO announced the Hogwarts Wizard's Chess set. The 208-1 - Pirates Chess Set brought us back to a board with something to build, with 2017's 40174-1 - LEGO Chess finally delivering a fully brick-built set (no minifigures to be seen) which also became the storage box. 853373-1 - Kingdoms Chess even came with an ugly out of System baseplate for you to place the board into. Unfortunately I assume it didn't sell that well at the time because LEGO reverted back to basic chess sets immediately. Set 852293-1 - Fantasy Era Castle Giant Chess Set really elevated what a LEGO chess set could look like though, adding flourishes and actually giving us something to build (check out the bonkers prices on Bricklink for this set!). Most LEGO chess sets follow this concept, with Vikings, Fantasy Era Castle (twice), Pirates (twice), and Kingdoms mostly following this. Most of the chess pieces were minifigures and what wasn't didn't have much of a build experience. The first one was 851499-1 - Knights' Kingdom Chess in 2005. LEGO Chess sets have been around for a while. ![]() So I have this set primarily to teach them how to play and thought I'd share my thoughts. Released last year this set has limited shelf life left in it (December 31st 2022 to be precise) but my kids out of nowhere expressed interest in learning how to play chess. I know what you're thinking "this set is so old now" and you're right.
